StudioCanal’s Miffy coming to Sky
February 27, 2025

StudioCanal and Superights have closed a with Sky for the new CGI series of the renowned children’s animation classic Miffy .
Co-produced by StudioCanal, Merciw and Superprod Animation, in partnership with French pay-TV broadcater Canal+, the series will be exclusively available on Sky Kids in the UK later this year.
The deal was brokered by Imrun Islam (Head of Film and TV Licensing UK & Ireland) for StudioCanal and Nathalie Pinguet (Deputy General Manager – Sales & Acquisitions) for Superights. Sky Kids content is acquired by Lucy Murphy, Director of Kids Content at Sky for Cécile Frot-Coutaz, CEO of Sky Studios & Chief Content Officer for Sky. The deal was negotiated by Alexander Wright (Acquisitions Manager) and Alia Morsy (Acquisitions Executive) for Sky Kids.
Based on the world-famous character Miffy, created by Dick Bruna in 1955 and featuring in more than 30 books, this new animation series featuring the iconic bunny seeks to engage today’s pre-school aged children and all the people who love her around the world.
Miffy – who is celebrating her 70th anniversary in 2025 – has evolved into a more complex, funny and engaging character who lives in a contemporary world. The new Miffy series is distinguished by its emphasis on character-driven stories about Miffy and her friends discovering the World around them. Miffy is positive, creative and spontaneous, sometimes even impulsive which can lead to tricky situations that she cleverly overcomes, thanks to her positive attitude and empathy.
Available as 78 episodes of 7 minutes and targeted at 3-5 year-olds, Miffy is currently in production in Superprod Animation studios. The first batch of episodes will be delivered in September and will air on Canal+, Sky Kids and internationally.
Islam commented: “Sky have been so enthusiastic and collaborative since the early start of our discussions, I am excited to see the series hit their platform later this year. This deal heralds a new step for much loved Miffy, marking only the beginning on her way to reach to kids and families worldwide.”
Pinguet added : “I’m delighted and proud that Miffy has found her home at Sky in the UK. It has been a pleasure to work with Lucy Murphy and her amazing team. I feel that the Sky teams are passionate about Miffy and I’m sure they will give her a privileged place in Sky’s line up”.
