MPs to quiz C4 chiefs

The Culture, Media and Sport Committee of the UK House of Commons is to question Channel 4 Chief Executive Alex Mahon and Chair Sir Ian Cheshire on the work of the broadcaster.

The regular scrutiny session on April 1st will give MPs the chance to examine Channel 4’s performance and its role as one of the UK’s public service broadcasters.

With its last annual report showing an annual fall in revenue of 10 per cent, there are likely to be questions about Channel 4’s finances and how it is diversifying and adapting to the changing media landscape. The Committee could ask about its Fast Forward strategy which aims to transform the broadcaster into a digital first streamer by the end of the decade.

There could also be questions on the implications of the Media Act, how Channel 4 is aiming to reach younger audiences, and the broadcaster’s role in supporting programme production across the whole of the UK.

Mahon and Cheshire last gave evidence to the previous committee in the last Parliament in November 2023.
