March 13, 2025

Echelon Studios has announced the theatrical release of Young Nam Ko’s masterpiece Suddenly in the Dark (1981), fully restored in 4K. Never before seen in S theatres, film fans will have a rare opportunity to experience this classic like never before at a one-night-only screening on July 1st at Laemmle’s NoHo 7 in North Hollywood.

The film is a haunting blend of psychological horror and supernatural mystery. When a professor brings home a young housemaid, his wife Seon-hee becomes consumed by paranoia, sensing an ominous presence. As reality blurs into nightmare, the tension builds to a shocking climax.

This exclusive screening marks the beginning of an exciting new initiative for Echelon Studios—bringing beloved films back to theatres for a new generation of cinephiles and longtime fans alike.

“Suddenly in the Dark is a standout Korean horror, combining psychological suspense and supernatural terror. Now restored in 4K, audiences can experience the film’s chilling beauty and unforgettable storytelling the way it was meant to be seen—on the big screen,” said Sandro Gohoho, President of Licensing and Operations at Echelon Studios.
