Electric Entertainment closes deals for Almost Paradise

Electric Entertainment has closed four new broadcast and digital rights deals across multiple territories for its crime drama Almost Paradise which stars long-time Electric Entertainment collaborator and star, Christian Kane. The deals include Talpa TV for free TV rights in the Netherlands; WAKO Japan for VoD & TV rights; Eleven Entertainment in Korea for pay-TV & VoD, and blue Entertainment for VoD in French speaking Switzerland.

Sonia Mehandjiyska, Head of International Distribution for Electric Entertainment, commented: “’Almost Paradise’ holds a special place in our hearts; not only does it reflect our CEO, Dean Devlin’s Filipino heritage, it also is the first TV series to film an entire season in the Philippines, with an all-Filipino crew. We are thrilled that territories continue to acquire this series and are proud that it brings joy and entertainment to viewers worldwide, which is what we strive for with our productions.”

Each of the deals include 20 hour-long episodes making up two seasons of the series, which is currently streaming on Amazon’s Freevee in the US. Each season consists of 10 episodes.

Almost Paradise follows Alex Walker (Christian Kane), a former US DEA agent who was forced into early retirement and has moved to a small tropical island in the Philippine Archipelago where he runs the gift shop for a luxury resort on the island. The resort sometimes attracts criminal elite from around the world, and despite his best efforts to live a tranquil life, Alex is pulled back into the world he was trying to escape. The problem is… he likes it.

Mehandjiyska and Lisa Paule Vos, Manager, Global Acquisitions for Talpa TV, negotiated the Talpa TV deal. Nolan Pielak, SVP, International Distribution & Co-Production at Electric Entertainment, and Brian Park, President at Eleven Entertainment negotiated the Eleven Entertainment deal. Nolan Pielak and Nao Abe, Acquisitions at WAKO negotiated the WAKO deal. Mehandjiyska and Lorena Josowic, Senior Product Manager, blue Play and Acquisitions, negotiated the blue Entertainment deal.
