Italian digital infrastructure operator and media content services distributor RaiWay has reported strong 2024 financial results, exceeding expectations. Core revenue increased by 1.5 per cent to €276.1 million, while third-party customer revenue grew by over 5 per cent.
In the media distribution segment, revenue grew by 1 per cent to €244.4 million, driven by inflation adjustments in existing contracts with public broadcaster RAI, new RAI services (enhancing DTT coverage and expanding the DAB radio network), the launch of new regional DTT networks, and initial revenue from the CDN. The digital infrastructure segment generated €31.7 million, primarily from tower hosting.
Adjusted EBITDA rose by 2.9 per cent to €185.6 million, driven by higher revenues and cost control, while net profit hit a record €89.9 million (up 3.7 per cent). Investments totaled €54.9 million, while net financial debt increased to €127.6 million due to investments and dividend payouts.
The company saw positive trends in tower hosting, driven by FWA and radio operator demand. Five edge data centres were completed, and marketing was launched, including partnerships with key ICT operators. The live-video-optimised Content Delivery Network completed tests with key content providers, providing superior functionality and performance by reducing latency and backbone congestion. A new Rome headquarters was identified for cost reduction and improved corporate identity.
For 2025, RaiWay anticipates continued growth in line with its 2024-2027 Industrial Plan. The company also noted that it has begun analysing the feasibility of potential consolidation within the broadcasting infrastructure sector.
