Ateme & MaxMind optimised streaming & compliance in APAC pay-TV

March 13, 2025

Ateme has announced that a large APAC pay-TV provider has selected the Ateme NEA end-to-end video streaming solution to power the next generation of pay-TV services. The key decision criteria included requirements that offered optimised video delivery for end users, but also provided geo-compliance and anti-piracy measures to safeguard the intellectual property associated with licensed content.

Ateme partnered with MaxMind to address these requirements by integrating MaxMind’s GeoIP City/Country data, along with the GeoIP Anonymous IP database for VPN and proxy detection, into the NEA CDN.

The NEA CDN optimises the Quality of Experience (QoE) for viewers by ensuring that video content is delivered from the best cache location within the CDN. This precision delivery reduces latency and ensures fast loading times, creating a seamless, high-definition streaming experience.

“Our CDN cache optimisation is a game-changer for video streaming, significantly enhancing the user experience by minimising buffering and stream interruption,” said Dan Patton, Vice President of NEA Products. “By tapping into the best available cache based on MaxMind’s IP address location data, we’re raising the bar for quality in video delivery.”

The Ateme and MaxMind joint CDN solution bolsters compliance with content licensing laws in two ways – first by limiting content access exclusively to authorised regions or countries, and secondly by including enhanced anti-circumvention tools to prevent access from unauthorised users behind VPNs, proxy services, and other IP-masking technologies.

Christopher Luna, Product Manager at MaxMind added, “By combining our robust and highly accurate IP geolocation and proxy detection data with Ateme’s CDN, the combined geo-compliance solution provides peace of mind for pay-TV providers who need reliable solutions to enforce regional streaming restrictions effectively.”

The end-to-end video delivery solution from Ateme uniquely met the stringent requirements of the pay-TV provider.  “The combination of the Ateme video delivery solution and MaxMind’s IP data optimises the quality of experience for the millions of pay-TV subscribers, addresses content provider compliance requirements, while also safeguarding pay-TV service revenues,” said Patton.

This announcement underscores Ateme’s commitment to innovating video streaming technology, balancing viewer satisfaction with strict compliance and security measures. The combination of Ateme’s leading-edge CDN technology with MaxMind industry leading IP address and Anonymous IP data is poised to benefit pay-TV providers by creating an ecosystem of high-quality, secure streaming experiences.
