Media Prima harnesses Broadpeak’s dynamic ad insertion
April 14, 2025
Broadpeak, a provider of content delivery network (CDN) and video streaming solutions, has announced a partnership with Media Prima Berhad, the Malaysian media company, harnessing Broadpeak’s server-side ad insertion (SSAI) service to power OTT revenue transformation. The broadcaster utilises Broadpeak’s dynamic ad insertion solution via the broadpeak.io SaaS platform to monetise its OTT service Tonton — a live streaming platform delivering a range of local and exclusive live content, including one of Malaysia’s most popular full-time channels, TV3.
Gregory Eu, Head of Product of Tonton, Media Prima, commented: “We were looking for a trusted partner to help us future-proof our OTT monetisation capabilities. Broadpeak’s dynamic ad insertion service helps us increase revenue potential while giving us the scale and flexibility we need as a nimble organization. Tonton carries Malaysia’s leading channels, where advertising inventory has tremendous value and users expect flawless ad experiences. We’re excited to continue opening new revenue streams while growing our nation’s most-loved, homegrown streaming service.”
Tonton benefits from broadpeak.io’s SSAI across multiple live streaming channels, creating exceptional viewing experiences through smoother transitions between content and advertisements while enabling enhanced ad delivery reliability and greater support for dynamic ad personalisation across devices. Supporting Tonton’s elevated subscriber experiences in bringing high-quality live content to multi-device audiences, the service harnesses a suite of Switch Media’s video player, content management, and application solutions — delivered via seamless technology ecosystem integration with Broadpeak. Media Prima also benefits from effortless ad server integration with Springserve, a long-term Broadpeak technology partner.
Switch Media played a key role in enhancing Tonton’s OTT service by providing its advanced MediaHQ platform, which powers seamless content management, high-performance video playback, and a superior user experience across multiple devices. With MediaHQ’s flexible modular architecture, Tonton benefits from streamlined video workflows — from ingest and media management to content distribution and analytics — ensuring high-quality delivery of both live and on-demand content. This integration allows Media Prima to efficiently manage and scale its OTT offering while delivering engaging viewing experiences to Malaysian audiences.
Mark Johns, CEO of Switch Media, said: “We’re thrilled to support Media Prima Berhad in elevating Tonton’s OTT experience. By leveraging our MediaHQ platform, we’ve enabled a scalable and efficient content workflow that enhances the viewing experience while seamlessly supporting ad integration. It’s exciting to see Tonton continue to grow as Malaysia’s premier streaming service, and we look forward to further innovation together.”
Jacques Le Mancq, President and CEO of Broadpeak, added, “It’s fantastic to work with market leaders like Media Prima Berhad with a clear vision for growth. Media Prima Berhad is powering a new OTT trajectory and cementing Tonton’s position as a national-favorite streaming service with future-ready monetisation and agile SaaS technologies. We’re also delighted to see our technology partnership with Switch Media enabling seamless market deployment and fast results for our joint customer base across the region.”
Powering a rapid time to market with unmatched flexibility and ease-of-use, broadpeak.io’s SaaS SSAI solution is fully and easily scalable, coping with unpredictable traffic peaks without the need for additional servers. With proven reliability enabling enhanced OTT monetization for world-leading streaming services, Broadpeak empowers Media Prima Berhad to maximize productivity and operational scale with managed service expertise and cost-effective technology foundations.
